 Spotify Technology S.A or Spotify, is a Swedish streaming service for digital music, videos and podcasts. Spotify members can use the service completely free of charge if they want to. This means that not only listening to music is free and users have access to the entire Spotify library, but also that they get unlimited access to its catalog of music, videos and podcasts.

Free users can add a playlist curated by the Spotify staff, a playlist created by other users and even created by an artist; they can also create albums and share this with friends and other users.

One limitation is that Free users do not get unlimited skips, like on the Premium version, and they do not get to pick the order in which songs are played. However, free members can also select songs for playback with unlimited skips if they are listening from one of Spotify’s curated playlists that are under “Made for You” on the Home page.

The Spotify Premium service has a lot of features, for one, it not only allows users to download an unlimited number of songs to listen to offline, but also choose the order of the songs – which users do not get to do on the free version. Another cool feature is that the subscription plan gets rid of all the ads from the app, which is a disadvantage of Free Spotify, where very often the ads interrupt playback.

Another perk of the paid membership is that it gives its users access to music in a high-quality mode that makes it sharper and clearer, upgrading to 320kbit/s. Plus, with Spotify Premium, users get Spotify Connect. This feature essentially allows users to listen to music on one device and control it on another device, even switch back and forth between the devices.

To sign up to Spotify, all you need is an email address, a phone number or a Facebook account and find your friends and follow them on Spotify – they can even share their recommendations with you.

You can create an account on its website Spotify.com, download and install the Spotify Music app on your Windows 10 device or Mac OS computer, or even your Xbox One or PlayStation 4 console. Plus, you can download the app on your phone in the App Store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android devices.
